David Grewal, B. Eng., Co-founder

David has a degree in Engineering with over 21 years of experience in the energy industry.  He has represented the interests of key clients across every consumer class, including; forest products, mining, metals, and food & beverage processing. David evaluates potential factors that might affect commodity prices and energy supply fluctuations and provides agile price risk management strategies to mitigate volatility exposure.  David plays an instrumental role in fostering upstream supplier relationships and providing guidance on optimizing financial performance on behalf of our clients through every link in the natural gas supply chain from the wellhead to the burner-tip.

Peter Kresnyak, B. Eng., Co-founder

Peter completed his degree in Chemical Engineering and has over 22 years of experience in the energy industry. His extensive background includes producer services, pipeline operations, regulatory governance, and wholesale market trading in Canada and the US. He has coordinated the transportation assets for BC’s largest natural gas aggregator, overseeing supply operations in BC and on the US West Coast, as well as conducting all short and long-term US trading.  Peter’s primary role at Absolute Energy is to build world-class supplier relationships throughout Canada and the US., and to implement price risk management plans to increase value to our clients.

Kirby Morrow, B. Eng., Manager, Client Solutions

Kirby has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and over 27 years of natural gas supply experience in the Canadian energy markets, with a high level of expertise in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Absolute Energy in 2009, Kirby held numerous key positions at leading natural gas providers, including Director of BC Operations for CEG Energy, Director of Natural Gas Supply for FortisBC and Manager of Energy Services for Canadian Forest Products. Kirby has also worked as a petroleum process engineer in Alberta.

Currently overseeing a diverse range of customer accounts across the commercial, industrial and public sectors, his unparalleled energy management experience combined with a comprehensive understanding of the BC market ensures we source the most competitively priced natural gas supply for our customers.

Melissa Running, B. Comm, Manager, Client Solutions – Industrial Services

With over 17 years in the natural gas industry, Melissa has extensive experience managing customers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. This includes expertise in regulatory governance and the complex regulated gas utility environment, working with FortisBC to structure non-standard utility rates for large industrial clients.

At Absolute Energy, Melissa puts her valuable skill set to work managing the daily sourcing, trading, pipeline scheduling and utility nominations for our customer base across Canada, as well as overseeing many of our key institutional and industrial accounts.

Susan Wills, B. Eng, Manager, Client Transport Services 

Susan joined Absolute Energy in 2008 after moving from Calgary, Alberta. Upon completing her degree in Chemical Engineering, she worked as an Engineering Consultant and moved into the natural gas marketing side of the business for a large oil and gas exploration company in the capacity of Manager of Gas Operations in Alberta. Susan plays a vital role in providing market guidance and risk management to a portfolio of large commercial and light industrial clients in Canada and the US.

Joseph Chopik, CPA, CMA, Director, Finance and Accounting

Joseph graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria. Prior to joining Absolute Energy, Joseph worked for a Canadian midstream energy asset company. He has played an integral role in creating new processes and efficient systems to manage the growth at Absolute Energy. Joseph has also been pivotal in developing and optimizing the daily operations and trading platform at Absolute Energy.

Rebecca Kresnyak, Gas Supply Coordinator

Rebecca manages the scheduling of gas supply between our upstream supplier base and our large group of end use customers, moving supply across a complex system of pipeline and utility distribution systems on a daily basis. Her focus is to provide customers with supply reliability using cost-effective daily purchasing from a mix of gas suppliers at different receipt points and communicating dispatch requirements to pipelines and utilities using on-line based scheduling systems.
